Every Little Bit Helps Me Bring More to You!
Following on 2019 performances of The Southern Thing, I was plotting and planning the next phase of its journey with Rainer Reeves-Cohen and Jeff Voelker; living in a monastery and starting on new work. Then Covid-19. Everything to do with The Southern Thing was suddenly on hold.
So…we adapt. This year, like many of my colleagues, I’ve been teaching online, taking time to reinvigorate my solo practice, and learning to enjoy solitude. I’ve also been preparing for the next period of growth for LDP and beginning work on a new project, Still,Together (working title). Long-time collaborator Christine Bornarth and new LDP dancer Kris Seto joined rehearsals online in preparation to shoot the film version of the piece in April 2021. Videographer/dancer Leighann Kowalsky will bring the video magic on location at Lexartsci in Lexington NY.
And that’s just the beginning. The full-length live version of Still,Together and a community workshop are in development. I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to pivot into possibility during this very challenging year. It means we’re closer to bringing this work to life at a time when the world needs it urgently.
Contributors, supporters and advisers are a big part of bringing the work to the world. Many folks who were once able to support us aren’t able to at this moment. If you’re able to make a contribution, you could be the bridge that brings Still,Together to the community and provides that feeling of togetherness we’re all yearning for.
